Crash Landing: From Nothing to Returning to Space

Inspired by RimWorld, also known as the Edgeworld, but you can follow along even if you haven't played the game.

Qian Qian has lived two lifetimes.

In her first life, she died before she could finish her thesis.

In her second, she started over as a newborn fox girl and grew up all over again. She didn't take over anyone else's body, and there were no memories of some “original owner.” This fluffy tail and these nimble ears are entirely hers, inside and out.

After three years of office drudgery, she finally mastered the art of tail care. Then a coworker shoved her into an escape pod and jettisoned her onto a nameless planet.

A crash landing. Running around naked. Nearly dying of thirst.

She had to scavenge everything: a rusty revolver, a dull dagger, and a dust coat two sizes too big.

The shelter by the lake was barely fit to sleep in, but she could at least chew on the expired crackers.

Until someone in the woods aimed an arrow right between her eyes.

The one holding the bow was a gray-haired Ratkin girl with a gaze sharp enough to kill. Behind her hid a little round-eared carpenter, secretly winking at Qian Qian.

Then the little carpenter handed her a bowl of hot soup.

“Big Sis, you look so pitiful.”

Holding the bowl, Qian Qian suddenly felt that being dumped on this lousy planet wasn't so bad after all.

First, she'd survive. Then she'd settle the score with that stinking fox.

But before that... could she have another bowl?
