I Was Promised a Life of Hardship in Exile, So Why Are All the Beasts Lining Up to Feed Me?

[Confiscation and exile + historical romance + animal speech + beasts paying homage + rebellion and becoming emperor + strong female lead + no saintly heroine]

In an instant, the world changes. The whole Duke of Zhenguo's household is framed for treason, stripped of their possessions, and sentenced to exile three thousand li away!

Shen Zhaoning, the duke's legitimate eldest daughter, goes from a noblewoman of the capital to a prisoner in a cage cart overnight.

Her father vomits blood in despair over the injustice. Her white-haired grandmother is shoved around, and her little brother burns with a fever, clinging to life.

Wolves surround their cart along the road. Everyone trembles in terror, but Shen Zhaoning understands their howls.

“Can we eat this lot?”

Shen Zhaoning: “...No. Move along.”

The wolves leave.

Everyone: “???”

From then on, the exiled prisoner's life takes a wildly unexpected turn.

Short on food? Rabbits and pheasants line up to deliver themselves.

Lost? A golden eagle leads the way from the sky.

Bandits attack? One command, and beasts charge into battle!

The imperial court sends assassins? Sorry, the fierce beasts for a hundred li in every direction are all her informants.

A certain cold-faced hunter, secretly the last survivor of a family of generals, brings her game every day. He says it's “on the way,” but carries a fur coat he sewed for her in his hands.

With a proclamation in one hand and her finger pointing to the heavens, Shen Zhaoning declares:

“Grand Tutor Zhao, you seized my home, so I'll tear down your sky!”

The beasts howl as one, and the phoenix banner points south. She will rebel against this empire, no matter what.

As he dies, a certain grand tutor spits blood in regret. “If only I'd known, I should have done more than exile her!”

Too late. Every beast is on her side. How are you supposed to kill her?
