At 1:17 a.m., delivery rider Chen Du takes a shortcut beneath a bridge he has never seen before while returning from his last delivery.
At the end of the empty road, a strange outdoor wedding banquet is underway.
The wedding venue, enclosed by a wire fence, is brightly lit, with red lanterns hanging overhead and guests filling the seats, yet not a sound can be heard. Someone blocks his way, holds out a gift register, and asks in a hushed voice, “Why don’t you make a contribution?”
Two girls who accidentally wander into the venue instantly become dazed, walking toward the banquet like puppets on strings. One of them is forcibly dragged out and seems to return to normal, but afterward, in the dead of night, she keeps hearing the sound of suona horns and repeating the same words:
“The auspicious hour is almost here.”
As Chen Du investigates, he discovers that this bridge-side wedding banquet, which never ends, is connected to his younger sister’s mysterious disappearance three years ago.
And in the city’s dark underbelly, even more inexplicable “boundary realms” lie hidden.
When a wedding invitation bearing his name arrives at his door, Chen Du finally understands:
This wedding has been waiting for him from the very beginning.
