In the six ancient realms, the Netherworld reigns supreme.
Lin Chen, the eternal Netherworld Judge who commands the cycle of life and death and passes judgment on the causes and consequences between yin and yang, is betrayed by his close friend Xiao Yanchen. Then the ruler of the Void Origin Abyss covets his source power and lays a trap spanning countless ages to kill him once and for all.
His judge's brush shattered and his soul torn apart, Lin Chen refuses to let his source power be stolen. He seals his broken soul and falls into the mortal world to be reincarnated, reborn in a remote mountain village. Born with a yin fate clinging to him, he can see both worlds the moment he opens his eyes. The lonely ghosts and vengeful spirits invisible to ordinary people are impossible to hide from his sight.
Nightmares plague him from childhood, imprinting fragments of broken memories of the Netherworld. Ancient locust trees bow before him, and spirits kneel in worship. Born with the supreme destiny of a judge, he is nevertheless pursued at every turn by mysterious forces lurking in the shadows, bent on killing him in his youth to eliminate the threat for good.
He conceals his unusual nature and hides his powers, blending into the everyday life of the village. He witnesses birth, aging, sickness, and death, and helps the dead let go of their regrets and obsessions. He finds brothers bound to him by life and death, meets the woman destined for him, and learns the yin-yang customs of the people as his powers from his previous life awaken one step at a time.
From lying low as a village boy to entering the wider world at the police academy, he wears the uniform, solves cases, and helps ghosts move on. He journeys through secret realms of the underworld, traces the origins of events stretching back through the ages, and uncovers a thousand-year-old secret behind the betrayal. He faces tribulations of demons, love, and life and death, witnessing upheaval in the Three Realms and the fall of countless beings.
The betrayer of old has secretly been working undercover with painstaking devotion, while the ultimate villain has schemed through countless cycles of reincarnation. Good and evil are hard to distinguish in this world, and the human heart is even more unfathomable than the sinister spirits.
When his yin-yang eyes open fully and the divine might of the Judge awakens, Lin Chen will tread the mortal world and command the Netherworld, settle grudges stretching back through the ages, quell calamities across the Six Realms, and restore order to reincarnation. In the end, he will remain among mortals, his heart holding yin and yang in check, and become the one and only Netherworld Ruler of all time!
