The Whole Family's Darling in the Sixties: The Little Lucky Girl Can Make Anything Reproduce

In 1960, a great famine swept across the country. Every household in Songjia Village ran out of food, and they were nearly done gnawing through tree bark and grass roots.

Song Jinyu, the youngest little darling of the Song family, was so hungry her little face had turned yellow. She looked as though she might not make it. Wiping away her tears, Grandma fed her the last mouthful of rice soup.

Half asleep, little Jinyu reached out and touched the dead old locust tree in the courtyard.

The next morning, tender shoots burst from its branches, and the whole courtyard was filled with locust blossoms. The entire family was stunned.

From then on, life for the Song family began to change...

The withered vegetable patch? A touch from Bao’er, and the seedlings shot up! The shriveled seeds? Bao’er gave them a squeeze, and they yielded a harvest in just three days! Saline soil? Bao’er ran around on it in her little shoes, and it turned into rich black earth!

The eldest uncle’s family came to steal their grain. “We’re all family. You have food, so why won’t you share?”

Clutching a pumpkin bigger than her own face, Bao’er blinked her big eyes. “Uncle, there’s so much grass in your field. Bao’er can help you grow vegetables, okay?”

The eldest aunt laughed at her. “What can a three-year-old know about farming?”

The next day, cabbages taller than a person had grown in the wasteland outside the eldest uncle’s house.

The whole village: “???!!!”

Aunt Liu spread rumors, wagging her tongue. “That girl from the Song family must be a monster!”

Then Bao’er went and planted a willow beside her dry well, and somehow drew groundwater up from below. Aunt Liu dropped to her knees on the spot. “Bao’er! Auntie was wrong! From now on, I’ll work like an ox or a horse for you!”

The village chief was so delighted he could hardly stop grinning as he held the little darling. With Song Jinyu leading the way, the whole village turned its fortunes around in the famine and embarked on the road to prosperity!
