The fog of Qinglan Reservoir will never clear up. A pendant and fishhook engraved with July 15, 1962 do not catch fish, but only life and death.
Professional documentary photographer Shen Bozhou's heart stopped for ten minutes to rescue his partner who jumped into a reservoir under mysterious circumstances three years ago. From then on, he was haunted by phantoms under the water. Now he returns to the old place with the intention of completing the unfinished filming, but in the hands of a floating corpse, he picks up the same fishhook that his former partner found before he disappeared.
Following the ghostly guidance of the hook, he uncovered a secret from sixty years ago: the reservoir night watchman stated that both the couple drowned in 2006, and the wife who was seven months pregnant was trapped in the deep water. The husband had avoided her for sixty years out of guilt. The fishhook was the only obsession to convey messages between them. Shen Bozhou used the hook as a matchmaker to successfully reunite the souls of the dead, thinking that he had escaped from his mysterious fate.
But a few months later, the fishhook reappeared, and the lead pendant in the strange woman's hand pointed directly at his former partner who had been waiting for him under the water for a thousand days and nights.
On July 15th, the fateful day was approaching. His girlfriend, who was seven months pregnant, tried her best to stop him, but he was destined to be hooked to death.
Some hooks, once picked up, can never be shaken off. He thought he was the messenger of death, but in the end he realized that he was the last fish about to be dragged into the abyss.
