The protagonist, Jiang Che, is an unemployed college student who has just graduated. He is funny, does not follow common sense, has a high IQ but is a bit cowardly. One day, he was forced into the "Rules and Monsters Copy" by a mysterious system. The system will assign a seemingly outrageous occupation each time (such as street singer, caregiver, prop master, train conductor, commentator, librarian, cleaner, etc.). Players must use their professional skills under the constraints of the dungeon rules to pass the level. The loser will be trapped in the copy forever, or be "assimilated" into the system's NPC.
In the first copy, Jiang Che met Su Yan, a trainee surgeon who was also pulled in by the system. With Su Yan's venomous tongue and reliable actions, the two went from distrusting each other to becoming partners in life and death, and faced the subsequent levels together.
