[Farming + history + not a wish-fulfillment story + raising children + no male lead]
The story of an ordinary woman: the mother of Wei Zifu!!!
See how a humble servant tries to survive amid imperial power and find a way to stay alive.
The story focuses on everyday life, with very little political scheming.
Wei Wuyang wakes up in a hospital and opens her eyes to find she’s transmigrated into the body of a thirty-eight-year-old widow, a servant in a marquis’s household and mother of seven.
The good news: her daughter will become Empress Wei, her son will be the famed general Wei Qing, and her grandson will be the legendary warrior Huo Qubing.
The bad news: history has gone seriously off course. If she doesn’t set things right, all nine members of the Wei family will die, and so will she!
Faced with a family that’s in total disarray, scheming against and betraying one another, and a pack of troublesome children, Wei Wuyang can only put on the face of a “wicked mother” and begin her daily life of raising children, dealing with scoundrels, and building a fortune after transmigrating.
Wei Junru, once sharp-tongued, she becomes the family’s “chief steward,” keeping the household’s businesses in perfect order.
Wei Shaoer, once a hopeless romantic, she learns that relying on herself is better than relying on a man, and picks up the skills she needs to support herself and her child.
Wei Zifu, once someone who sided with whoever offered her the most, she learns how to build genuine relationships and that some things can’t be gained through scheming.
Wei Changjun, once selfish and arrogant, the eldest son starts out as a wastrel but becomes a dependable pillar of the family.
Wei Qing, he escapes the Zheng household covered in injuries. With his mother’s care, the insecure, taciturn boy grows into a cheerful young man who makes friends wherever he goes.
Huo Qubing, the baby who nearly drowned in his swaddling clothes grows up healthy under his grandmother’s care. Gifted in both letters and arms, he becomes the Champion Marquis who will one day conquer the Xiongnu and reach Mount Langju Xu.
It's pretty good. The characters of Wei Zifu's family are well portrayed. Wei Zifu is gentle and sinister, Wei Junru is a sharp-tongued person, and the heroine Wei Wuhao's character is actually a bit violent (at least she doesn't feel gentle). Looking forward to the follow-up plot between Wei Qing and Huo Qubing.
