Reborn in 2002: I Built a Phone and Conquered the World

In his previous life, Lin Yan died on the eve of a breakthrough in chip development. A single ban from the Northern Federation brought Huaguo’s industrial system to a standstill. He poured his heart and soul into the work, finally turning domestic chips from a backup plan into the real thing, only to collapse in the lab before he could ever see the dawn. When he opened his eyes again, he was back in 2002. That year, Nokia was still king, smartphones had yet to be born, and Huaguo’s phone makers could only assemble devices under foreign brands. Everyone said: “Chips are too hard. Systems are too hard. Communications standards are beyond our reach.” But Lin Yan knew that if he did not act now, fifteen years later the entire country would be held by the throat. So he started with a feature phone. Dual SIM, dual standby, extraordinary battery life, domestic color screens, self-developed baseband chips, smart systems, communications standards... When the Northern Federation’s blockade finally came down, the whole world waited to watch him collapse. Standing at the product launch, Lin Yan said just one thing: “I’ve waited twenty years for this day.”
