Enough Hype: Yongzheng Was No Good

Yongzheng's usual image:

"The hardest-working emperor of the Qing Dynasty, sleeping only four hours a day and reviewing tens of thousands of memorials."

Sounds like an exemplary worker, right?

But think about it: you work overtime every day until midnight and haven't completed a single project. What is there to brag about?

He couldn't win wars, couldn't handle diplomacy, and nearly brought down the Qing Dynasty with his economic policies.

The only person who works harder than him is you, still in high school.

And here's the wildest part: he wasn't even the legitimate heir.

Kangxi wanted to pass the throne to his fourteenth son, but Yongzheng forced his way into power by altering the will, imprisoning his brother, and driving his mother to her death.

This book reveals a harsh truth:

Yongzheng was basically an overzealous intern who faked his way into the CEO's job with a PowerPoint presentation.
