Lin Ke and Zhou Ke later reunited many times and used every excuse to get back to each other.
When he was sixteen years old, Lin Ke took a picture of Zhou Ke with his head down writing a question and laughed at him for looking like a child. Zhou Ke wore the couple's shirt she bought into her graduation photos and stood in the middle of the row of school uniforms, as seriously as if she was fulfilling a vow that no one knew about.
At the age of twenty, they went to the same city. The subway lines are intertwined and the rainy season is long. Two people who agreed to go together can get separated in the same city.
At twenty-six, they were trying to polish each other again like an old piece of china. But the cracks are in the bones, and the more they are rubbed, the clearer the lines become.
At the age of thirty-two, Lin Ke was finally willing to admit: Zhou Ke was not the wrong person. He just met her too early - he met Lin Ke who didn't know how to love yet but wanted to prove his freedom too much. And Zhou Ke finally stopped abiding by that summer.
They all walked further afield.
Only occasionally, Lin Ke would still think of the tree in the photo. Under the orange dusk, the shadows of the trees were slightly blown by the wind.
When she was young, she thought she could go anywhere as long as the wind was strong enough.
Later she realized that true freedom is not about leaving someone, nor is it about being left behind by someone. Finally one day, you can stand in your own life, admit that you once loved someone very much, and admit that you will never look back.
They didn't know at that time that no matter how similar day and dusk were, they would never stop at the same moment.
