My name is Li Shuang. I’m a little demon born from a pear tree that took a thousand years to become human. My master kicked me down to the mortal realm to undergo a tribulation.

The moment I arrived, I ran into Nezha, the Third Prince. He’d never lost a fight and never held his tongue. When he got haughty, he could make anyone furious enough to spit blood.

“What exactly are you trying to do?”

Yet every time she was in danger, he was the first to rush to her side.

“Who’s worried about you? I just don’t want you dying and tarnishing my reputation.”

But when she was seriously injured and fell unconscious, the young divine general who never bowed his head shed tears.

She wanted to get closer, but feared he had simply grown used to her being around.

He wanted to speak, but the words always turned into barbs before they left his mouth.

She’d had enough.

“Nezha, I’m giving you one last chance.”

“What chance?”

“Say something sincere. If you don’t, I’m leaving and never coming back.”

He clenched the Red Armillary Sash and moved his lips. After a long pause, all he managed was, “...Leave if you want.”

She turned and walked away.

Three steps later, a dull thud came from behind her, followed by words forced through clenched teeth:

“...Don’t go.”

She turned back and saw that his ears and neck had turned bright red.

She smiled. “See? You can talk like a normal person after all.”

He ground his teeth. “...Li Shuang, just you wait.”

But his hand had already clamped tightly around her sleeve, and he refused to let go.
