The Eastern Expedition of King Qin of the Tang Dynasty

In the third year of Wude in the Tang Dynasty, King Li Shimin of Qin led his army to conquer Wang Shichong in Luoyang. The Tang army fought and won consecutive battles all the way and besieged the lonely city of Luoyang. Dou Jiande of Hebei Province personally led a large army to the rescue. Li Shimin decisively divided his troops to guard Hulao Pass. He ambushed the enemy with a small victory and captured Dou Jiande alive. Seeing the general trend, Wang Shichong went to Kaicheng to surrender. This battle quelled the two major separatist forces in one fell swoop and swept across the Central Plains, laying a key foundation for the Tang Dynasty to unify the country.
