Stealing Hearts with a Pen: The Professor Is So Gentle

Yu Miao is so stuck on her novel in Shaxi Ancient Town that she's on the verge of a breakdown. Her cousin drags her to a bookstore to clear her head, and she randomly asks a passerby to take a photo of them together. Only when he stands up does she realize she barely reaches his chest.

He glances down at her and bends over of his own accord. “Three, two, one.” She smiles, dimples showing, and his finger hesitates on the shutter.

Back in Kunming, she writes him into her novel. Gold-rimmed glasses, a height difference, a man who bends down when he speaks: her readers go wild, pestering her every day. “Author, is the male lead based on someone real?” She doesn't dare answer.

Later, she runs into him again at a bookstore. He sits across from her with two coffees, his calm tone making it sound as if he'd planned this all along. “Fancy seeing you again.”

She doesn't know he's already read every one of her novels. He waited two months for her to make the first move, but she never did. So he had to come to her himself.

One day, he corners her by a bookshelf and leans close to her ear. “You've written about all kinds of love in your books.” “But there's one kind you've never written about that I want to give you...” “A love that lasts a lifetime.”

Later, readers uncover who inspired the character, and the whole internet erupts. In an interview, he smiles at the camera. “Yes, I was the one who pursued her.” “From the moment she asked me to take that photo, I never planned to let her get away.”
