The blood moon hung overhead as the apocalypse began, and zombies smashed through Chen Mo’s security door.
At death’s door, he bonded with the [Apocalypse Mystery Sign-In System]. His starter gift was a Glock with unlimited ammo, along with a chilling prompt:
“Proceed to Room 302 and collect three key clues.”
Room 302? The apartment where a family of three had mysteriously vanished three days before the apocalypse, leaving bloodstains everywhere but no bodies?
Chen Mo pushed open the ajar door and swept his flashlight across the wall. A crayon drawing. It was covered in eyes, hundreds and thousands of them, big and small. The moment he stopped, every eye turned at once and fixed on his face.
They were watching him.
Chen Mo didn’t back away. His [Iron Will] made him immune to all fear. He pulled the trigger.
Starting with a disappearance in an apartment building, he gradually uncovered a century-old wager called “A/Z” at the Deep Blue Research Institute, and ultimately discovered that this apocalypse was no natural disaster. Someone had deliberately unleashed an ancient being searching for a “perfect vessel.”
And he himself had been chosen from the very beginning.
