Du Qiaolai

Tudou Qiaolai is a long novel blending wasteland science fiction with warmth and steadfast resolve. Set on a massive orbital bridge built for a space launch system, spanning a radiation rift, it tells the story of a group of ordinary people guarding a bridge amid the ruins of civilization after the Great Sundering, armed with baked potatoes, sniper rifles, welding torches, and a registry book. It offers hard-hitting military tactics and detailed sniping, along with the mouthwatering aroma of baked potatoes steaming beneath the shack at the bridgehead. There are brutal defensive battles against forces ten times their size, and there is also the gentle rule that travelers need only answer three questions to pay the toll.

In the wasteland, the bridge is both the way home and a beacon of hope.
