The Dao Lies Low: Notes on Awakening

996 workdays, cutthroat competition, outstanding employee, laid off. She spent three years fighting her way up in an office tower. She had everything, yet felt poorer than ever.

After quitting, she takes the night shift at a convenience store and meets an old man sweeping the floor. He doesn't teach her how to succeed. He teaches her just one thing: how to pull your head back out of the jar.

This isn't a wish-fulfillment cultivation novel. It's a story about finding yourself again in a Shenzhen urban village.

Twelve episodes, twelve awakenings:

From "Who am I?" to "I won't ask anymore,"

from "I need to find it" to "I've been here all along."

The Way isn't in some lofty mountain temple. It's in the moment you lower your head to sweep the floor.

For everyone who has everything, yet feels that nothing is right.
