The Nine Seals of Heaven's Mandate

Five hundred and forty-five days ago, Su Jiu'er, a young prodigy of Qinglan City, had his primary soul extracted. His body was left ruined, his spirit incomplete.

Five hundred and forty-five days later, he returned from the Soul Sect's labor camp, only to be met not with respect but with a notice declaring him worthless, a marriage cancellation, and his own clan members fighting over his medicine and power.

Everyone said he was finished.

The Fate Tablet Office said his spirit was incomplete. The Ye family said his future was over. His cousin Su Chengjia said he did not even deserve to receive medicine.

But no one knew that the wisp of soulfire within him, which should have gone out, had never fallen.

So long as the soulfire does not fall, he can refine the Soul Sect's remnant power.

The nine soul locks, once wounds that threatened his life, would become the steps by which he defied fate and was reborn.

Two years later, at the Heavenly Gate Trials of the Heavenly Sword Sect, Su Jiu'er would tear up the notice declaring him worthless with his own hands and make everyone who had once blocked his path see for themselves:

His soul is not extinguished, and his fire will not fall.

He, Su Jiu'er, will ultimately defy the heavens with his soul.
