I’m a food delivery driver. I woke up to find I was the only human property owner in Ghost Domain, District Seven. Bound to the “Ghost-Baiting Death Wish System,” I had to steal something from a female ghost from the start.
Other people raise ghosts for protection. I hire them as security guards. Other people hide from ghosts to stay alive. I issue them residence permits: one plot of land for one slot, first come, first served. No extensions.
F-rank ghosts are entry-level employees, E-rank ones are middle managers, and D-rank ones can just about manage a team. As for C-rank? They’re my regular customers.
Disaster looms, and evil spirits close in. I say I’m going to build a fortress that can withstand the disasters, and every ghost thinks I’ve gone mad.
Then I realize that the real death wish is making sure they all survive.
System: “Congratulations, Host. You’ve unlocked the hidden achievement: Reverse Raising Gu.”
Me: “Speak human.”
System: “You’ve spoiled the poorest ghosts in Ghost Domain until they’ve become the ones nobody dares mess with.”
Me: “Sounds pretty good to me.”
System: “C-rank evil spirits are lining up at your door to hand over their property deeds. Their reason: ‘We heard you provide room and board, plus five kinds of social insurance and a housing fund.’”
Me: “...That was just to lure ghosts in.”
No cultivation, no defying the heavens. I’m just turning the ghosts at the very bottom of Ghost Domain into a bunch of lunatics willing to risk their lives for me.
