Prince Yan’s Northern Campaign: The Classic Edition

Continuing the story of the Ming dynasty after its founding, this book tells how, in his later years, Zhu Yuanzhang harmed his meritorious officials to secure imperial power. Empress Ma and the treacherous Han Jinhu manipulated the court, while the fourth prince, Zhu Di, was framed and made Prince of Yan. He was sent away from the capital to campaign in the north, repeatedly falling into danger. With loyal supporters protecting him, Zhu Di escaped and established himself in Yanjing. Later, he donned mourning garb and marched south to wipe out the Han and Ma faction. After fierce battles, he captured Nanjing and ultimately ascended the throne as the Yongle Emperor. He put the court in order, secured the borders, and ushered in a period of stability for the Ming dynasty. This classic storytelling tale is about struggles for imperial power and the heroic campaign to quell the Jingnan Rebellion.
