Zhengde of Great Ming: Everyone Is Waiting for Me to Die

[No System + no golden finger + historical court intrigue + reform]

The fifteenth year of the Zhengde era, Qingjiangpu.

The Ming emperor, Zhu Houzhao, has fallen into the water.

The imperial physicians shake their heads, Jiang Bin sharpens his blade, and the civil officials have drafted the edict of succession.

Everyone is waiting for him to die.

But he survives.

The one who comes back is no longer the boy who could only defy the world with his reckless antics.

The soul of Chen Yan, a Marine Corps medic, has merged with that of this military genius and emperor.

He understands medicine, so he can see what ails the Great Ming.

He served in the military, so he knows how to build a true war machine.

He is the emperor, so

he has a perspective shaped by five hundred years of civilization.

And he has a scalpel with which to operate on the entire Great Ming.

The civil officials call him reckless.

He lays out a chart of the Ming’s finances and the shortfalls in its border armies.

Jiang Bin says commanding troops takes courage.

He establishes the first general staff of its age.

Yang Tinghe and the others wait to draft an edict for the new emperor.

He grants the grand secretary a chair and a stack of blank official gazettes.

I am not killing people.

I am operating on the Great Ming.

The emperor whom history had sentenced to death decides to change his own fate.

And the fate of this empire, too.
