[Infinite Flow] [Dark fairy tales] [Trials of human nature]
An Sheng boarded a train to meet an online friend and never reached her destination.
Welcome to the Land of the Guilty.
[First stop: The City That Never Sleeps]
A candy-colored town where the sun never sets.
Thick black stitches crossed the residents' gray-white skin. Their lopsided eyes stared at you as they repeated, “City that never sleeps, city that never sleeps. Night never falls in the city that never sleeps. In a sleepless city, all people live free of sin.”
Here, An Sheng met a man in a clown costume. He stole her food, slapped her, and forced her to swallow a human heart.
He said, “Being alive is the original sin.”
[Second stop: Noon Funland]
An amusement park with no children. Skinless clowns rode the carousel, and every Ferris wheel car held a “disobedient” doll captive. The most popular attraction was Whac-A-Mole: the heads poking out of the holes belonged to disabled children.
[Third stop: Fairy Lake]
The water was black and covered in floating skulls. Souls that refused to pass on slept at the bottom of the lake. Carrion birds circled above, their cries like an old military bugle, like sobbing, like a sentence being passed.
After seven stops, will she make it back alive? Is the man in the clown costume her enemy or her ally? Who is her online friend, “Laura,” really?
The Land of the Guilty accepts no innocents.
After watching The City That Never Sleeps, my impression is that it is obviously a novice village, but what surprised me was the sentence: Hate is an illusion, and longing is what takes root. There is cruelty behind the fairy tale. The innocent Nana wanted to create a "paradise that never sets" for her abused friend Lin Niannian, but it turned out to be a "city that never sleeps" imprisoning countless souls. This setting itself is full of literary irony. Nana's "hate" is disguise: this is the most delicate touch in the whole book. She hated Lin Niannian so much that she wanted to build a city to torture her, but in the end the truth was that she just wanted to use this method to make Niannian "live" in her own world and unable to leave. This is not hate, this is love that cannot be let go. The "city lord" is actually the embodiment of obsession. Nana said that Nian Nian is the city lord, but she is the one who created the city that never sleeps, which hints at their spiritual unity. What she protects is not a city, but a childhood friendship that can never be returned.
I think it's super good-looking, and it's different from ordinary unlimited streams. The first chapter of the city that never sleeps, I feel more of a fairy tale-like emotion. There were a few scenes that scared me to death, but in the end I was just moved 😢 Highly recommended
Hello everyone, my name is Yuan Li Luo Bai. I hope you all like my novel. This book has a male and female protagonist. Laura is not a girl. I only spoil this little bit 🤭🤭🤭
