Wasteland: Raising Cute Kids Online and Summoning the Stars of China

After the nuclear war, civilization on Blue Star was all but destroyed. The surviving humans huddled underground, living on nutrient solution and having forgotten even their ancestors’ names.

Just as humanity was about to face annihilation, the gods suddenly descended and launched a global livestream: “The Battle for the Survival of Civilization”!

The rules were merciless: one representative would be chosen at random from each country and sent into fragments of time and space from before Blue Star was destroyed. Each representative would awaken the power of their country’s “Heroic Spirits” and struggle to survive in extreme natural environments.

The one chosen by Yan Country was a little girl just four and a half years old, who had recently lost both her parents and was licking nutrient solution off a bottle cap in an underground city: Su Niannian!

A hundred billion viewers in Yan Country broke down in an instant, despair spreading everywhere. “Heaven means to destroy Yan Country!”

As the whole world laughed mercilessly, the little girl tremblingly opened the holographic interface. Guided by her heaven-defying intuition, she crookedly selected a white-bearded old man fishing with a straight hook.

The old man had a kind, benevolent face and stroked his beard with a smile. “Those who are meant to bite will take the bait.”

The whole world burst out laughing. “Yan Country picked an old, weak invalid!”

But they had no idea that the white-bearded old man was Jiang Ziya! The brilliant galaxy of five thousand years of Chinese civilization had only just lit its first star.

Every Heroic Spirit she summoned became a child-spoiling fanatic in her mindscape, setting up an exclusive group chat for the great masters!

“Don’t be afraid, Niannian. Taigong will teach you how to make a fire and fish.”

“Niannian, you can’t eat that poisonous mushroom. Watch Grandpa teach you how to identify medicinal plants!”

Watch as this adorable four-year-old from the wasteland, doted on and guided by a host of Heroic Spirits, draws on five thousand years of Chinese survival wisdom and historical heritage to survive the apocalypse and amaze the world!
