The Song Immortal Qin Sanmei Raises Havoc in Heaven

Qin Sanmei, a young woman from Yishan, Guangxi, could barely read a few characters, but her folk songs could make phoenixes alight on branches. She spent her life fighting landlords and protecting her neighbors. After her death, she should have gone to the underworld, but a beam of golden light received her instead. It turned out that Wenqu, the Star Lord of Literature in the Celestial Court, had heard that her songs could even make stubborn stones nod. He made an exception and entered her into the immortal rolls, appointing her to oversee heavenly melodies.

But when she arrived in the Celestial Court, she discovered it was filthier than the mortal world. Immortal officials formed factions, Buddhists amassed wealth, and even the Matchmaker treated red threads as a business. The celestial laws were so strict that a lowly immortal like her had no right to speak up.

Then she saw her sisters, banished to the mortal realm, crying out on the Execution Platform for Immortals. Qin Sanmei stepped forward.

She had no blade, no spear, and no powerful connections.

All she had was her voice, and an endless supply of folk songs.

“Clouds drift in the sky, free of care; waters flow below, full of feeling. You say heaven's laws matter more than life, but I sing that life is stronger than heaven.”

At that moment, a crack appeared in the roof tiles of the Hall of Divine Mists.
