The Ming Dynasty's Medicine Tester

Behind the vermilion walls of the imperial palace, hatred lies locked beneath glazed tiles. A lowly maid from the Ming dynasty’s inner court is made to test medicines and poisons, tasting every herb. Once a pawn controlled by various factions, she quietly endures and plots, little by little overturning the rules of the game. In the end, she takes control of the entire board and rises to become empress, reigning supreme over the splendor of the Ming imperial harem.
