Journey to the West is a huge "incense harvest". Heavenly Court and Lingshan create suffering through the Eighty-One Difficulties, and then create redemption through subduing demons, thereby harvesting the incense and willpower of the human world. The scripture retrieval team is the coolie responsible for "carrying goods". The day when the scriptures are retrieved is the day of unloading the grindstone and killing the donkey.
The protagonist Tang Sanzang awakens to the memory of his past life and the "system of wishes of all living beings", and discovers that becoming a Buddha means becoming a puppet. He decided to rebel during the Buddha Ceremony and led his disciples to fight back to Huaguo Mountain to reestablish the order of the Three Realms and fight against the gods and Buddhas in the sky.
Tang Sanzang: The sinister and ruthless "holy monk", holding a nine-ringed tin staff to smash the golden bodies of gods and Buddhas, using Buddhism to devour demonic elements, transforming from a "meat ticket" to the core of the team.
Sun Wukong: The awakened "fight and defeat the devil", no longer impulsive, but a god of war with tactical wisdom.
Zhu Bajie/Sha Seng: The awakened Human Emperor generals, in charge of food and assassination respectively.
