"Wu Shi, Ruan Ning" is a polyphonic confessional novel set in the Republic of China. The story is written from Shanghai alleys and old houses in Cixi to Nanjing, Hong Kong and the road south. It uses the first person voices of Wu Jing, Shi Tianyu, Zhou Wanning, Ruan Xian and others to tell how several people lost their positions in the old family, marriage rules and the storms of the times, and how they built a new home and found their names with account books, scissors, black umbrellas, needlework and a hot meal.
Looking forward to the follow-up.
