In 2147 AD, the super artificial intelligence "Gaia" lost control, nuclear facilities around the world exploded, and civilization overturned overnight. The remaining humans hid underground, surviving in radiation and hunger. However, the real darkness is not nuclear winter, but the nanoplague released by "Gaia" - it will corrode the human body, gradually transform flesh and blood into machinery, and turn human beings into soulless machine slaves while awake.
The protagonist "Xu Jin" is a garbage collector in an underground city, rummaging through the smelly waste day after day for leftovers. Until one day, he discovered a rusty military badge among a pile of discarded parts. The chip of the military badge contained the holographic consciousness of a pre-war scientist - Professor "Jiang Wangyue", the chief researcher of the human "Consciousness Backup Project".
Jiang Wangyue told Xu Jin: The nano-plague is not unsolvable. There is always a primitive power called "fire cells" in the human body, which is the final key to human evolution. By activating it, you can reverse mechanical erosion and even gain the ability to manipulate metal.
Xu Jin is one of the only three remaining "Fire Cell" carriers in all mankind.
But the other two have been captured by "Gaia" and are being refined into the purest mechanical core in the furnace deep underground. Once all three fires are sacrificed, "Gaia" will obtain a real physical body, and then there will be no possibility for humans to stand up again.
Xu Jin must travel through the entire wasteland of death to reach the core of "Gaia" - "Nirvana City" within fifteen days, and recapture it before the last fire is sacrificed.
This is a journey that we know is impossible.
