An earthquake sends chef Li Yi back to the height of the Tang dynasty.
He also awakens a cooking-and-showing-off System.
System missions: “Add at least one new recipe to your cookbook every day”; “Win over all kinds of diners with your cooking”; “Most importantly, the Host must show off once every day.”
Li Yi is quite troubled to have awakened such a ridiculous System. Luckily, showing off is my strong suit.
And so, a bizarre scene unfolds in Chang'an at the height of the Tang dynasty.
Li Bai, the Poet Immortal: Brother Li Yi, this fish cooked nine ways of yours is truly marvelous!
Li Yi: It's nothing. Back home, I once made a fish into eighty-one different dishes. I'm just too old to manage it now.
Li Bai: But you're only sixteen this year.
Emperor Xuanzong: Li Yi, I hear you can make eighty dishes in a day.
Li Yi: More than that.
Emperor Xuanzong: I knew it.
Li Yi: I can make eighty dishes in half a day. They're pre-prepared meals.
Princess Yuzhen: Li Yi, I want to marry you and have your babies.
Li Yi: Don't fall for me. I'm just a legend.
With his peerless culinary skills, Li Yi crosses paths with famous poets, frontier-renowned generals, musicians whose talents go unrecognized, and all manner of other luminaries, including the emperor's favorite.
“I told you, it was just a dish I threw together. I'm really not a master chef,” Li Yi explains, looking only half innocent.
