Lin Du's right eye has been seeing more things than others since he was twelve years old - not the truth, but data. The old visual enhancement implant cuts reality into layers of grayscale images, marking distance, temperature, and material. Occasionally, a string of error codes will pop up at the edge of the screen, like a person blinking in the dark, but unable to blink clearly. He treated the eye as a malfunctioning part, stuffed it into its socket, and tried not to use it.
