The Kindling Dark Flame

A bright, emotionally grounded heiress x a cunning, devoted bank CEO. He falls first and pursues her. Both are each other's only one. An intense push and pull.

Xin Yi is the daughter of the prominent Xin family of Haishi. She has loved one man for five years.

For five years, she followed in his footsteps without pause. She thought they were more than friends but not quite lovers, and that all it would take was crossing that final line for them to be together.

Who knew he would turn around and agree to marry someone else? Everything that came before had been nothing but wishful thinking on her part.

On the day Xiao Yuheng got engaged, she cried in a dim stairwell and couldn't even find a tissue.

Her former fiance, Wen Shu, appeared.

He used a handkerchief to wipe away her tears. "He's engaged now. Isn't it time you looked at someone else?"

After they met again, Xin Yi found that he was acting more and more strangely. He was always flirting with her, and the way he looked at her grew increasingly blatant.

At last, she couldn't take it anymore and asked, "Do you like me?"

He smiled and tilted her chin up. "I don't just like you. I love you."

Wen Shu pursued her with one move after another. The long-sober man got drunk and became impossible to handle, putting his arms around her and calling her Baby.

Xin Yi blushed. "Who are you calling your Baby?"

"Xin Yi. Xin Yi is my Baby."

Wen Shu rested his forehead against hers, his voice captivating. "Can we kiss, Baby?"

To Wen Shu, Xin Yi had been the woman he knew he would marry ever since he came of age. No one but her would do.

Three years ago, she abandoned him for another man and went to Shenzhen.

Three years later, the smoldering fire within him ignited the moment he saw her.

No matter how freely she flew like a bird through another vast world, in the end, she could only come to rest in the palm of his hand.
