Reborn in 1985: My Family’s Background Has Been Upgraded

In her previous life, Shen Wantang had her identity stolen and was pushed into an icy pit by the fake heiress and her scumbag boyfriend, left to freeze to death in a poor, remote village.

At the moment she is about to die, the “Life Optimization System” activates and gives her three choices: abilities, money, or family background.

Without hesitation, she chooses: **“Optimize my family background completely.”**

The System disappears forever.

When she opens her eyes again, the shabby apartment block has become a detached Western-style mansion. Her grandfather, who died young, is now a wealthy overseas Chinese tycoon who has returned to his homeland. Her disabled father is now an economic adviser to the state. Her timid mother is now the head of the foreign investment bureau, and her hoodlum older brother is now the founder of a tech company.

In a drawer lies a foreign-currency passbook with no spending limit. Her mother’s note contains just five words: **“If you like it, buy it.”**

It’s 1985, and everyone else needs ration coupons and has to queue just to buy a piece of cloth.

She strolls through Friendship Store in custom-made Hong Kong-style couture, signing a bill for 60,000 foreign exchange certificates without so much as a frown.

The fake heiress comes over to show off a Japanese electronic watch?

Shen Wantang casually opens a drawer, revealing nothing but Rolexes, Omegas, and Cartier watches.

“Cheap mass-market stuff like this? My dad’s company gives it out as a year-end bonus.”
