In 2031, a "virus of deep-sea origin" swept the world. The ocean is no longer the cradle of life, but a breeding ground for nightmares. The virus enters the atmosphere through water vapor, and 90% of humans turn into "deep divers" after infection - their skin grows scales, their eyes are empty, and they only unconsciously migrate towards the nearest ocean, as if they heard the call of the abyss.
The survivors retreated to the inland plateau and relied on air filtration systems to survive. Anyone who comes into contact with unpurified water may become alienated within 48 hours. The most terrifying thing in this world is not the mutated behemoth, but the fact that the people around you may turn into silent "deep divers" overnight and then walk towards the sea.
Shen Ting, an ordinary voice graduate student, was trapped in a subway tunnel in a coastal city during a virus outbreak. He was not deprived of his mind by the virus, but instead gained a strange ability - his voice can "awaken" the memory of matter, and can even comfort those crazy deep divers. But every time he made a sound, he could vaguely hear some kind of "echo" coming from the depths of the sea. It was an ancient, hungry consciousness that was trying to answer him.
"Don't listen to the sound of the deep sea." This is the creed of every survivor base. But Shen Ting must listen, because that is the only way to save humanity - or destroy it.
When all the survivors are fleeing the ocean, Shen Ting must swim against the current and walk into the abyss that has swallowed billions of people. There, it was not the virus waiting for him, but the true original owner of the earth.
