The Foolish Third Lady’s Soul Guards the Wasteland

As soon as their mother dies, the eldest and second-eldest brothers divide up all the good farmland, leaving their simple-minded younger brother with three worthless plots of barren land that nobody wants.

The villagers all say he’s a fool, the sort who counts the money for the person selling him. But no one notices the inexplicable force that seems to protect him, drifting over those three plots at night.

After a rain, the young crops on Half-Stone Slope grow more vigorously than anyone else’s. When the village secretary’s son tries to seize the land by force, disaster strikes him the moment he makes a move. And when the younger brother swings his hoe into the haunted graveyard on the back hill, a place everyone is afraid to touch, he unearths secrets from decades ago.

No one knows that an unyielding protector, unwilling to leave, has always stood behind this seemingly simple-minded young man.

Three barren plots, danger at every turn. While everyone thinks they have him under their thumb, he has already relied on his late mother’s protection to forge a path to defy fate on this wasteland.
