Geology student Lin Yuan takes a part-time job as a secret-realm gatekeeper to pay for his family's medical treatment. He temporarily joins an exploration team led by Chen Hao, the young heir to the Tianqiong Consortium, but is looked down on for his humble background and treated as a burden. Little do they know that Lin Yuan has already awakened the supernatural ability [True Insight], which lets him spot danger, analyze weaknesses, and identify treasures.
Inside the secret realm, Chen Hao ignores Lin Yuan's warning and falls into mortal peril. Lin Yuan turns the tide with his ability and claims the secret realm's greatest treasure, a fragment of a star chart, publicly delivering a face-slapping comeback to the spoiled team leader. The treasure sparks a scramble between the Tianqiong Consortium and the authorities' Ninth Bureau, leaving Lin Yuan caught in the middle.
Using True Insight, he sees through the schemes of all sides and uses the star-chart fragment to open an unknown secret realm, escaping pursuit. Fighting for survival against impossible odds while uncovering the truth behind the secret realms, he rises from the bottom of the team to become the greatest explorer, master of the Secret Realm Compendium.
