Lin Shen is a waste. He failed classes, skipped classes, and was laughed at by the entire department—if it hadn't been for that late night when he saw a line of code on an underground hacker forum that shouldn't exist.
"The real world can be programmed."
He thought it was a joke. Until he wrote if (danger) then (armor++) and watched his skin turn into alloy.
That day, the International Fault Management Authority approached him. Not recruiting—arresting.
Because his ability comes with a price: every time it is used, a piece of memory will be randomly deleted.
Lin Shen began to "serve" under the supervision of the Administration, fighting against the abyssal beasts emerging from the fault. He thought it was a deal—memory for power, power for freedom.
Until he opened his notebook and saw the first page that read:
"You have a sister. Her name is Lin Qian. You forgot her three times."
——And at the bottom of that page, someone added a line in another handwriting:
"She's still in the fault. Go find her."
Those are his own words. He doesn't remember anything. But he still owes that promise.
