The protagonist appears to be a cowardly accountant, but is actually proficient in Japanese. When the traitor is being humiliated in public, he suddenly speaks fluent Japanese to a Japanese military officer. The contrast slaps him in the face and makes the traitor kneel down and beg for mercy on the spot.
