The real world is torn apart by "grand narratives".
Fragments of countless story worlds are embedded in the earth like viruses - Kafkaesque giant insects wandering between office buildings, subway tunnels echoing the whispers of Cthulhu, behind every door of a residential building may be a fairy tale trap, or it may be a reappearance of a criminal investigation crime scene.
Ordinary people live in fear of being "killed by the plot" at any time: once captured by narrative fragments, they must follow the rules of the story, otherwise they will become a "background board" - permanently solidified as part of the scene.
Chen Entropy awakened the forbidden ability: he could "see" the underlying rules of narrative fragments and rewrite them at the cost of his own memory. Every time he changes a line of rules, he forgets a piece of the past. The more precious the memory, the higher the rewrite authority.
While other narrative hunters were frantically plundering the legacy of powerful stories, Chen Entropy was writing the same sentence over and over in a blank notebook:
"Get my name back."
He didn't know that the biggest secret he had forgotten was the origin of this apocalypse.
