Song You’an is a rose spirit in a cultivation romance novel called My Rose Petal Shower, a disposable character who is killed once she has served her purpose. In the original story, just after taking human form, Song You’an was basking in the sun in her own garden, where the garden’s mistress treated her well. The original male lead, three-year-old Shen Shiyan, yanked her out of the ground by her roots and took her back to his home. After discovering Song You’an, Shen Shiyan teamed up with his family’s white cat spirit, the female lead Ye Qingcheng, to force Song You’an to make it rain rose petals seven times. After awakening to her own consciousness, Song You’an resolves to find a powerful sect to shelter her. After several unexpected turns, she chooses the Canglan Sect.
