My name is Qiu Chong, nicknamed Bedbug.
On the day of the end, I was sleeping in the house. A loud noise shattered the glass in the whole city, and also shattered my days of eating and waiting to die. Nearly 24 million people in SH City have turned into zombies. I lived in the old shabby house left by my parents and started living by relying on the instinct of delivering food.
Living in the apocalypse is becoming increasingly difficult.
I've killed zombies, and half of my life was bitten off by a mutated dog. I have rescued several women and watched my comrades fall in front of me. I discovered that I was mutating - every time I was beaten to the point of death, my body would become stronger. When the crossbow arrows are fired, there are no missed arrows. The wound opened and healed in a few hours.
But I don't know where this evolution leads. Are they stronger humans, or monsters scarier than zombies?
From SH city to the wilderness, from surviving alone to leading a group of people back to the dead city, I have been looking for answers. Will the thing that transformed me from a bug into a strong person make me the hope of a new world, or will it be the end?
The apocalypse is not just about zombies and mutant beasts. The end of the world is about human nature and choice. You can obviously live alone, but you have to turn back for another person.
