The author is already lost in their own imagination and art. Male lead: Shen Tu × female lead: Lu Zhao. A play on words.
Shen Tu is a barista. His life is like his latte: he has to measure the sugar precisely. Then he meets Lu Zhao, a veterinarian who puts six packets of sugar in her coffee.
She ate all the bitter dishes on his menu and said she wanted to taste what his everyday life was like. On his medical record, she wrote, “Prognosis: long-term. Cause: under investigation.”
Later, his Wi-Fi password was the date she discovered his diagnosis, and there was always a box of steamed buns in his fridge that she had kneaded for him.
“It's fine without sugar.” That was her diagnosis for his life.
