Ningyan Pavilion stands in an alley at the most remote corner of Qing University’s old campus.
The alley is called “Ink Fragrance,” an elegant name. But now, all that remains are bluestone slabs darkened by the rain and old apartment buildings on either side.
Sun Yanning’s shop is at the end of the alley.
The wooden sign has faded. The three characters “Ningyan Pavilion” were written by his own hand.
