The protagonist Lu Yin, who appears to be a university folklore lecturer, is actually the last descendant of a family of "corpse collectors" and is burdened with the truth about the family's tragedy thirty years ago. He was invited back to Coffin Village to investigate the case of an incorruptible female corpse. During the process of collecting the corpse, he discovered that the female corpse had the mark of his family, and the tragedy thirty years ago was actually related to the village's "three no burials" taboo. As the investigation deepened, Lu Yin discovered that every person who died abnormally in the village seemed to have touched some unknown secret, and all clues pointed to the century-old ancestral hall in the village that had never been opened. While solving a series of strange folklore mysteries, he also has to face the "living corpses" hidden among the villagers, as well as the mysterious "shrine guardian" who controls everything.
