The Immortal Venerable Descends to Earth: I Go Viral Selling Talismans on the Street

Immortal Venerable Descends to the Mortal World | Sells Talismans from a Street Stall | Everyday City Life | Mutual Healing | Eastern Fantasy A 3,200-year-old Immortal Venerable is banished to the mortal realm. He loses all his powers, has no money, and can’t even afford a bun. The kind-hearted girl at a wonton stall gives him two buns. He haughtily declares, “I won’t eat for free. I’ll draw you a talisman to repay you.” And the talisman actually works: A woodcutter who hasn’t slept well in three years falls asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow. A taciturn man who has had a crush for eight years takes a widow by the hand within three days. A jittery examinee passes the exam and becomes a scholar. Word spreads from one person to ten, then a hundred, and the “Immortal Talisman Shop” goes viral, starting from a corner of the local market. Love talismans, sleep talismans, luck talismans, protective talismans... No matter how trivial a mortal worry may be, he can draw a talisman to address it. He keeps saying, “This Venerable One couldn’t care less,” but his actions betray him: he grows used to being needed and thanked, and to that girl dragging him around the night market and stuffing candied hawthorn into his mouth. Until his ancient nemesis tears open the seal, and demonic energy shrouds the entire city. Amid the dark clouds filling the sky, the enemy’s wild grin suddenly freezes. “Immortal Venerable, you actually... developed mortal feelings?” Ling Xuan sets down his talisman brush and looks up. “No one lays a hand on my mortal world.” The Heavenly Court is far away. The local market is close. The warmth of everyday life is the true Way.
