The Bizarre Circus: Coming Home

The Freak Circus fan-made derivative otome novel You were once a spirit formed from a pair of twin plum trees on Mount Emei. A bolt of purple lightning granted you chaotic spiritual energy, along with a rebellious streak. You cultivated for five hundred years under the Golden Immortal Guang Chengzi, attaining profound mastery, but you could never break one habit: eating people. Fortunately, you only ate those guilty of the most heinous crimes, so you were still carrying out Heaven’s will. On the day you completed your training, you asked your master, “Are the human-demon romances in those storybooks just asking for trouble?” Guang Chengzi stroked his beard and laughed as he calculated your fate. “Your marriage chart doesn’t show a single mortal. It doesn’t even show half of one. They’re all demons, and there’s more than one.” Before you could ask how many “more than one” meant, your master sent you down to the mortal realm with a wave of immortal power. But Guang Chengzi must have got the coordinates wrong. You didn’t land in Jinling or Suzhou, but on a completely unfamiliar continent in Europe. There, you met a group of monsters. Branded heretics, they couldn’t walk openly beneath the sun. Even finding food was a struggle, and they had fallen into the hands of villains, suffering terrible abuse in a circus. Unable to stand by, you slaughtered everyone in that prison, gave the monsters food and dignity, then quietly slipped away on a night when no one was watching. Hundreds of years passed in the blink of an eye. Now you’re an ordinary café worker, hiding amid the bustle of a modern city and living a peaceful, carefree life. Then one day, on your way to work, a flyer caught in the wind and landed right at your feet. You looked down and saw an advertisement for a circus. “The circus is coming to town! You are cordially invited to...”
