[Supernatural Revival + Capitalist System + Reverse Exploitation + Hilariously Overpowered + Scheming Merchant]
Synopsis:
The supernatural world has returned. A hundred ghosts roam the night, and the living flee for their lives.
When other people encounter ghosts, they have a one-in-ten chance of surviving and run for their lives in a panic.
Ji Shang quietly takes out his golden abacus and POS machine when a thousand-year-old evil spirit comes knocking, his eyes gleaming with a capitalist's kindly smile.
“This bloodstained red wedding dress is full of resentment, and anyone who wears it is doomed to die? Excellent. We'll wipe away your karmic debt and sell it as a bulletproof vest for three million!”
“That weasel who's lived for five hundred years wants a title and asks if I think it's more like a god or a human? You look like the perfect night-shift security chief to me! Three thousand a month, room included, meals not included. Interested?”
When the region's top feng shui masters and tomb raiders are chased by a thousand-year-old evil spirit, wailing and scrambling into Four Watches Pawnshop, they discover to their horror that the shop assistant pouring their tea looks exactly like the Flying Corpse King who vanished from the corpse-driving lineage of western Hunan three hundred years ago!
At first, Ji Shang only wanted to pay off his debts. But before he knew it, he'd maliciously bought out the Nine Provinces' Ghost Market, the Ten Yama Kings owed him an enormous amount of usurious debt, and even Heaven itself had been forced into bankruptcy and restructuring by a contract he drew up...
The living pay in cash, the dead pay with their lives. No credit, no haggling.
Ji Shang fiddles with his abacus and flashes a capitalist's kindly smile. “Masters, our shop handles all kinds of evil-spirit exorcism work. Since we're old acquaintances, I'll give you a twenty percent discount. Just put ten years of your life on the line as collateral.”
