The characterization is a bit poor, and indeed a bit brainless. But I think it's okay for the protagonist to kill monsters. Everything else is pretty good.
Well, many people say that this characterization can be changed. I think the setting can be changed. For example, the protagonist was in a mixed place where people were greedy for life and afraid of death. Or maybe the protagonist's world was clearly classed. The protagonist was in a lower-class area and did not care about the lives of others in order to survive. Uh, and their characters are relatively poor, which is more reasonable. Also, the protagonist's teammates can be changed a little bit.
In other words, other people are puppets or something, or other people are puppets or something, not real people.
