Black A88888: Qiao Si

In 1980s Harbin, a bricklayer used his fists to make the rules for an entire street. He made an example of people by cutting off fingers, went alone to face his enemies, and stood his ground against thirty attackers. From the shantytowns of Daowai, he fought his way to the top, commanding respect in both the underworld and the legitimate world. His brothers would take a knife for him, but no woman dared spend her life by his side. He said, “There’s no turning back in this world. You can only charge ahead.” Then the gunshots rang out, and there was never another Qiao Si in the Ice City. This is the regret-filled life of a desperado: hard blows, fists to the flesh, and no wasted words.
