After graduating from a top foreign design school, fashion designer Gao Ran decided to return to China to start a business. Different from the mainstream Western-style haute couture route, he was deeply attracted by the cloud patterns on the cultural relics of the Forbidden City, the blank spaces in ink paintings, and the tapestry of ethnic minorities, and was determined to create his own trendy brand for Chinese young people. His entrepreneurial path was not optimistic at the beginning. He was ridiculed by his peers as "fashionable" and investors questioned the market prospects. But Gao Ran did not give up. He went deep into the Yunnan-Guizhou mountainous area to search for inheritors of intangible cultural heritage, and integrated the nearly lost Miao embroidery, Song brocade, tie-dye and other techniques with modern clothing design. Every stitch and every stitch carries the ultimate oriental aesthetic. In a desperate situation where he was heavily in debt and his team was almost disbanded, he participated in a national youth entrepreneurship competition and won the first prize with a series of national trend works full of oriental charm without losing a modern sense, conquering the judges and the media. The "Eastern White" brand became an instant hit and demonstrated Chinese young designers' love of tradition on the global stage.
