Crime Trail: Deep in the Mist

On a stormy night in Jiangcheng, a bizarre murder is discovered in an abandoned warehouse.

A woman has been bound on her knees, stabbed through the heart. There are no traces left behind, as if she were the target of a perfectly executed killing.

Chen Mo, a former homicide detective, was caught up in a string of teenage girl disappearances three years ago. Burdened by blame, he left the force in disgrace and became a private investigator, taking only cold cases the police had given up on.

Then a murder that replicates an old crime comes knocking. The method, details, and crime-scene evidence are identical to the unsolved case from three years ago.

Professional sailor’s knots, a murder on a high steel beam, a specially made non-slip lubricant, no fingerprints or DNA left behind...

The killer is meticulous, an expert at evading investigation, and lays traps from the shadows. They even openly taunt the police, manipulate the investigation, and issue threats from afar.

An anonymous underground forum, strange similarities among the victims, a buried scandal in the old city, an informant hidden inside the police station...

Every clue leads to another. The fog is thick, and danger lurks everywhere.

The case from three years ago remains unsolved, its regret cutting to the bone.

Three years later, the killer has resurfaced, ready to slaughter the city and declare war once more.

Chen Mo is drawn back into the case. Alone, he steps into the killer’s maze of traps, relying on his instincts as a detective to unravel the schemes, expose the lies, and pursue the real culprit.

Old and new scores will be settled tonight.

In this deadly game of hunter and hunted, who will survive to the end?
